Packaging Design
cup & kettle
The Brand
cup & kettle is an herbal tea brand that crafts organic, loose-leaf blends with a focus on mindfulness and tranquility. With the tagline ‘always caffeine free,’ the brand caters to tea drinkers seeking relaxation through high-quality, sustainably sourced ingredients.
The design features lowercase typography for an inviting feel, and the logo playfully shapes the words ‘cup & kettle’ into a cup and a kettle, reinforcing the brand’s identity. This packaging highlights the floral chamomile blend, ginger orchard medley, and elderberry bloom infusion, with a flexible layout that allows for easy adaptation to other flavors in the product line.

Project Objectives
Develop a creative brand and product concept appealing to customers.
Create print-ready, mass-producible packaging dielines.
Ensure the product uses intentional elements and emotional connection to build the brand and drive sales.
Mindmap & Logo Sketches
I began the design process by mindmapping different industries and company types for the packaging project. As I explored ideas, I found myself generating strong concepts for a tea brand and decided to focus my mindmapping on further developing that direction. After generating ideas for my brand's name, values, products, and potential flavors, I sketched some logo concepts.

Research
I explored current tea brands, analyzing their color palettes, niches, visual identities, and packaging styles—including materials, finishes, and structural designs. This research helped me define my niche—caffeine-free tea—and provided insight into existing design trends. With this knowledge, I made more intentional design choices, ensuring my brand felt unique and distinctive.

Initial Ideas
After researching other brands and packaging styles, I began gathering inspiration for a mood board to help visualize the overall essence of my tea brand. This step allowed me to refine the aesthetic, color palette, and design direction, ensuring a cohesive look and feel for the brand.

Sketching & Planning
Once I had a clear vision for my brand’s tone, name, and logo, I began sketching different layout ideas for the packaging information. I also explored a variety of packaging styles, including tins, bags, and boxes. I started by sketching 3D box concepts, then refined the content by sketching individual packaging panels.
