Stamp Design
Women of the Suffrage Movement
The Study
This study focuses on designing a set of four USPS stamps that share a cohesive theme and narrative, celebrating an impactful aspect of American history, culture, or the environment. Through research, sketching, and iterative design, the stamps were developed into a unified visual series that adheres to USPS guidelines.
My USPS stamp collection highlights the women of the suffrage movement. Some are very commonly mentioned, others not as much. I wanted to shine a light on all of the brave women that pushed the movement forward.

Project Objectives
Design a visually unified set of four USPS stamps adhering to industry standards.
Create a stamp set that highlights an American-related subject that had a significant impact on American history, culture, or environment.
Research
To understand what makes a USPS stamp set successful, I conducted research on existing designs. I focused on sets with strong visual cohesion, unique themes, and a sense of depth or layering. Additionally, I analyzed previously released themes to ensure my concept was original and interesting.

Ideation
I explored several concepts, but my top two ideas were Women of the Suffrage Movement and Women Behind America's Favorite Desserts. I was especially drawn to themes centered around women, as I noticed a significant imbalance—many existing USPS stamp sets heavily featured men

Refinement
After some deliberation and feedback, I chose to move forward with the Women of the Suffrage Movement concept. I found the illustration style I had been exploring to be a strong fit, and ideas for improvement were coming together more naturally.

Project Details
I completed this project during my Junior year studying graphic design.
